A socially responsible compact-sized crossover.
Saturn Vue Green Line FWD Hybrid (2008)
The Saturn Vue Green Line hybrid is a just-lauched-for-spring-2008 compact crossover that feels like a car yet has the character and look of an SUV. With its comfortable seating position and excellent visibility, the Saturn Vue Green Line Hybrid is a very good compromise for those that want a good value in a compact crossover style vehicle plus the added fuel economy of its hybrid enabled power system. The design of the Vue is European inspired, keeping the shape clean and efficient, with a sporty fair to it.
Seating is comfortable up front, with good head and leg room for both occupants. Rear seat is typical for this size vehicle, that is to say, comfortable but not expansive. Controls and appointments are typical Saturn/GM design and quality. Sound system is simple and intuitive to use, with large buttons and display. There are plenty of storage areas and cubby holes throughout the cabin.
We drove the 4 cylinder version which after spending a week in South Florida traffic, it left us wanting more power, especially when we wanted to speed up or pass someone. Of course, the flip side to having a smaller engine is the enhanced fuel economy it gives back. Ride and feedback from the brakes, steering and throttle are typical for this type of vehicle. The hybrid system is almost invisible. The only thing you notice is the “sleep” mode the engine goes into every time you stop at a light, coming back online as soon as the vehicle starts rolling. There is an indicator in the dash that tells you the status of the charging system.
The 2008 Saturn Vue Green Line hybrid is an excellent value for its size and the long list of features it offers. Being the Green Line version, it gives the buyer the satisfaction of helping the environment by reducing fuel consumption in addition to being produced in an environmentally efficient green factory.
