2007 Porsche Cayman

The entry level Porsche that’s far from ordinary
Porsche Cayman (2007)
Porsche has a hit with its new Boxter-based Cayman ! Its silky smooth and ooh so delicious to drive !
Brilliant move on Porsche’s part; Take the Boxter and create a hardtop coupe. Development costs are lower than starting from scratch. Presto! A new model.
The Cayman is strikingly sumptuous with its flowing curves and lines. Its simple, modern, and with an instantly recognizable heritage.
Inside you are greeted by an interior and layout that is no-nonsense yet comfortable and inviting. There is the classic left hand key start position harking back to the Le Mans racing days of the 60’s as well as the center RPM gauge that tells the driver, this is the most important instrument in the dash. The exhaust sound is simply perfect, so is the feel of the clutch as you let off in first gear. We found that the second to third gear shift was one of the best in any car we’ve driven. Steering, suspension, brakes and overall feel is all Porsche. We where, however, left wanting more power as the standard Cayman comes with “only” 245 horses. No worries, the “S” version is available and comes with 295 HP. We did notice the design of the radio and pre-sets to be maddening! They are tiny and tough to select.
As the Cayman is a mid-engine car, it comes with not one but two trunks ! Front and back, both with plenty of space. This is a very civilized day-to-day car to drive yet have a great time doing it.
The old slogan for Porsche was: “Porsche, there is no substitute” It still holds true today.
